This Position reports to:
Service Team Leader

In this role, you will have the opportunity to execute service work of medium to high complexity as per work instructions and ABB guidelines. Each day, you will deliver excellent customer service to satisfy customers. You will also showcase your expertise by working with customer to identify opportunities in the installed base, to improve system performance and operational performance.

This Senior Service Engineer will work from Des Moines, IA.

This role is contributing to the ABB Electrification Division - Services Function. Main stakeholders are both our external and internal customers.

• Providing knowledge of and conduct work activities in compliance with the ABB HSE (Health, Safety and Environment), ABB Way, and Safety Manual & Safety policy at all times.
• Responsible for hands‑on execution of projects including startup, commissioning, troubleshooting, engineering, design, and repair of Power Delivery equipment in respective area;
  Power Delivery includes transformers, switch gear, OCBs, circuit breakers, busways, UPS, ATS, PLCs, relays, power management controls systems and other power related equipment & controls.
• Leading outages with other field engineers, technicians, and contractors including project management, lead site engineer or site project manager. Perform administrative functions such as writing technical reports, ordering materials, securing quotations, preparing job status reports, reports to customers, time‑sheet, and expense sheets on a complete timely, and thorough basis.
• Planning, organising and performing multifunctional field assignments in designated areas of expertise, directing the work of other field engineers and craft labour as required, in a timely and efficient manner.
• Developing and further expanding technical knowledge and expertise, currently recognising industry standards for engineering ability.
• Planning, preparing and/or instructing both internal and external training programmes as required, to impart and perpetuate field engineering and/or product knowledge in area of specialisation.
• Performing administrative functions in a timely manner that are associated with your work; such as writing technical reports, ordering necessary materials, securing quotations, preparing job status reports, reports to customers, time‑sheet, expense tracking sheets, and cost control activities. Such tasks must be completed on a timely, and thorough basis.

• Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering (or High School Diploma / GED with a minimum of 10 additional years of related engineering / field experience).
• Minimum of 5 years of field engineering experience.
• Ability and willingness to travel approximately 75% as required.
• Knowledge of industrial customer base in geographical area.
• Technical skills in testing of power distribution and delivery to include low voltage and medium voltage breakers, switch gear, relays and transformers. Experience in the repair and refurbishment of LV and MV circuit breakers (OEM equipment such as Siemens, GE, ABB, Square
  
  D, Multilin relays and Schweitzer Relays).
• Technical skills in testing, commissioning, startup and troubleshooting of medium voltage synchronous machines (including excitation systems), controls systems and programmable logic controllers – a plus.
• Candidates must already have a work authorisation that would permit them to work for ABB in the US.
