Purpose

Automation Technicians will support Project Managers and System Engineers in creating, installing, and commissioning PLC/HMI/SCADA based systems, as well as network and device integration work.

Essential Functions and Responsibilities
  • Assist with programming, start-up, commissioning, maintenance, fault diagnosis, hardware repairs, and programming bug fixes on PLC/HMI/SCADA control systems at customer sites.
  • Diagnose and resolve technical issues, providing reports via email, SharePoint, One Drive, or other repositories.
  • Participate in project meetings to understand project scope and documentation.
  • Manage control submittals, redlines, and final as-built drawings after review.
  • Collaborate with other technicians to develop technical solutions.
  • Engage in ongoing training to stay updated on new products, tools, and integrations.
Minimum Education & Experience
  • At least three years of experience with PLC/HMI control systems preferred.
  • Or an A.A.S. degree in Robotics, Automation, Technology, or in the process of completion.
Skills and Competencies
  • Knowledge of at least one PLC software (e.g., Rockwell RSLogix, Studio 5000, etc.).
  • Knowledge of at least one HMI software (e.g., Factory Talk View, Wonderware InTouch, etc.).
  • SCADA knowledge preferred but not required.
  • Familiarity with Windows applications and repositories (One Drive, SharePoint, GIT).
  • Understanding of Ethernet and serial network configurations.
  • Basic knowledge of process controls (PID loops, motor control, measurement devices).
  • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.
  • Ability to travel up to 25% for fieldwork.

  • Prolonged sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
  • Ability to lift 20 pounds occasionally.
  • Fieldwork involving standing, walking, climbing stairs, and exposure to various weather conditions.
Tools and Equipment
  • Laptop computer.
