E. required in the state of employment or the ability to obtain it quickly.
- We’re seeking a civil or structural engineer to provide forensic consulting services for insurance, legal, and industrial clients, as well as other sectors.
- This position involves determining the causes and origins of structural or building envelope failures, construction defects, and related damage.
- You’ll also evaluate the extent of damage, recommend repair solutions, and present findings through reports and expert testimony.
- The role requires managing multiple assignments simultaneously and maintaining strong client relationships.
- Conduct forensic investigations and analysis of residential, commercial, and industrial properties to assist in resolving insurance claims, construction disputes, and other legal matters.
- Carry out civil and structural engineering evaluations according to a defined scope of work and client‑approved budget.
- Perform on‑site investigations to identify the cause and origin of damage or failure in structural systems and building envelopes. Duties include collecting photographic evidence, documenting field observations, conducting interviews, overseeing testing, and reviewing design drawings, contracts, and historical records.
- Prepare detailed written and oral reports outlining findings, causes, extent of loss, and recommended repairs. Provide professional opinions and expert testimony when required.
- Oversee multiple concurrent projects, coordinating with multidisciplinary teams and ensuring deliverables are completed accurately and on schedule.
- Ensure all work follows established procedures and safety standards, with appropriate due diligence at every stage of a project.
- Develop and maintain professional client relationships through effective communication and quality service.
Required Experience, Education, and
Certifications:
- Bachelor’s degree (or higher) in Civil or Structural Engineering.
- Professional Engineer (P.E.) license in the state of employment, or the ability to obtain one promptly.
- NCEES Record preferred.
- 5+ years of experience.
- Project Management and/or Field Investigation preferred.
- Depending on location, other licenses or certifications may be required.

Skills and Abilities:
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Strong organizational, analytical, and problem‑solving abilities.
- High attention to detail with the ability to synthesize data, draw logical conclusions, and clearly communicate findings.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite and engineering design software.
- Ability to interpret technical documents, design drawings, and scientific or legal reports.
- Skilled in developing scopes of work, cost estimates, schedules, and detailed engineering reports.
- Comfortable presenting complex information to clients, leadership teams, and legal representatives.
