PURPOSE
The Electrical Estimator is responsible for preparing detailed electrical installation estimates with an Automation focus for commercial, industrial, and mission critical construction projects. The role involves analyzing project plans, specifications, and other relevant documentation to develop timely, accurate, and competitive budgets (including material and labor costs) as well as narratives that describe the installation requirements. Performs related work as required.

Essential Functions And Responsibilities
The following duties are typical for this job. These are not to be construed as exclusive or all inclusive. Other duties may be required and assigned.
- Responsible for preparing project take-offs for inclusion into the estimating tool “Accubid Anywhere” or similar software. Must show competence with or willingness to be trained on the estimating tool.
- Responsible for maintaining the estimating software including maintenance of the database and the system components. Requires collaboration with other Automation estimators to update vendor pricing and labor rates regularly.
- Formulate cost breakdowns to include costs associated with material and all labor categories from estimates as well as for cost breakdown for project progress detailing.
- Ensures that the installation budgets allow for compliance with all relevant local, state, and national electrical codes and safety standards.
- Ensure that all estimates align with company policies, industry standards, and best practices.
- Ability to communicate with subcontractors and other vendors to solicit proposals.
- Collaborate with the senior management team, project management teams, operations and field teams, subcontractors, and suppliers.
- Ability to perform peer reviews with Project Managers and Lead Electrical Foremen regarding the take-off data, job requirements, and specifications.
- Work closely with project managers to facilitate effective communication and smooth project handovers.
- Work closely with the Electrical Business Unit (40) to ensure alignment in estimating assumptions, best practices, and execution.
- Analyze project plans and specifications to identify potential risks and offer solutions.
- Contribute to the development and maintenance of project schedules, ensuring adherence to timelines and budgets.
- Provide recommendations for process improvements to streamline estimating practices and enhance project profitability.
- Maintain up-to-date knowledge and understanding of local market conditions including changes in material, equipment, and labor costs.
Minimum Education & Experience Required To Perform Essential Function
- Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Construction Management, or other related field or completion of an accredited 4-year Electrical Apprenticeship program.
- Five (5) years of experience estimating electrical construction work preferred
- Experience with computer estimating systems. Experience with Accu Bid Anywhere a plus.
- Comprehensive knowledge and understanding of Electrical systems, materials, labor, current electrical codes and electrical design documents in various stages of design completion required.
- Familiarity with industry standards including but not limited to ISA, UL and NFPA as well as the ability to assess associated costs.
