We are seeking a Structural Project Manager/Department Lead to drive strategic expansion and oversee all phases of structural design and construction. Their work spans commercial, residential, municipal, industrial, health care and educational projects. With over 13 offices across the U.S., this firm is seeking to build out its Structural Engineering department in Iowa and continue its commitment to efficiency, integrity and long‑term relationships.
Responsibilities Strategic Growth and Market Development- Lead business development strategy, aligning with firm‑wide goals
- Identify and pursue new business opportunities, partnerships, and client relationships
- Represent the firm at industry events, conferences, and client meetings
- Cultivate long‑term relationships with developers, architects, contractors, and public and private stakeholders
- Serve as a trusted advisor to clients, understanding their needs and delivering tailored solutions
- Ensure exceptional client service and satisfaction across all engagements
- Leverage your engineering expertise to guide project teams, ensuring technical excellence and compliance
- Collaborate with internal teams to scope, price, and deliver high‑quality projects on time and within budget
- Provide oversight on key pursuits and project delivery, ensuring alignment with client expectations and firm standards
- Partner with technical and operational leaders to align business development with delivery capabilities
- Mentor and upskill junior staff
- Foster a culture of collaboration, accountability, and continuous improvement
- 5 or more years in structural engineering, across a range of building project types (including commercial, educational, health care, residential and industrial)
- Licensed Professional Engineer or Structural Engineer in the United States
- Experience in structural design using steel, concrete, wood, and masonry
- Leadership experience preferred
