We’re looking for a Pharmacy Technician Student to join our team and play a vital role in preparing and distributing medications that make a real difference in people’s lives.

Overview

Are you detail‑oriented and passionate about supporting safe, effective patient care? This role will assist pharmacists in preparing and distributing sterile and non‑sterile medications, maintaining accurate medication records, and supporting daily pharmacy operations under the supervision of a registered pharmacist.

Operational Functions
  • Prepare and distribute medication products to fulfill medication orders.
  • Utilize automation to assure safe and accurate distribution and secure storage of medications.
  • Compound sterile medications in an appropriate clean room environment to assure a safe, accurate and sterile product, in accordance with facility, state, and federal laws and regulations (including USP 797 and 800).
  • Demonstrate competency, precision, and accuracy in the preparation of compounded products.
  • Compound non‑sterile medications in an appropriate compounding area to assure a safe and accurate product in accordane with facility, state and federal laws and regulations (including USP 795).
  • Answer the telephone, identifying self and department and directing calls to appropriate personnel in a professional and courteous manner.
  • Ensure appropriate and adequate medication inventory by restocking, rotating stock, removing expired medications, packaging medications, and ordering supplies.
  • Accurately perform data entry for patient billing.
  • Ensure proper medication storage.
  • Maintain a neat, clean, orderly, and secure department.
Compliance
  • Ensure the appropriate preparation and distribution of medications in accordance with facility, state, and national laws and regulations.
  • Assure compliance with HIPAA, DNV, OSHA and other state and federal regulations guiding healthcare.
  • Adhere to policies and procedures of UPH‑DM.
  • Prioritize the importance of preventing errors, accidents, and infections within the workplace and report potential or actual concerns immediately.
  • Complete all competency and skills assessment requirements.
  • Participate in and complete pharmacy technician orientation.
