At Des Moines University, your work will directly shape the future of medicine and health sciences while making a meaningful difference in the lives of students and trainees. We are seeking a Licensed Therapist (LISW, LMHC, or equivalent) to provide high-quality psychotherapy services, with a primary emphasis on individual therapy. This role also offers the opportunity to facilitate group therapy, engage with students and residents during clinical rotations, and support the psychologist with supervision of psychology interns as directed—all within a collaborative, mission-driven academic health sciences environment.

What

You’ll Do
  • Provide evidence-based psychotherapy to patients with diverse mental health concerns, including those with comorbid medical conditions. (75-80%)
  • Maintain timely, accurate, and confidential records of clients’ history, diagnosis, treatments, and progress in compliance with clinic documentation and billing policies. (5%)
  • Serve as a clinical resource and mentor for students and residents during their rotations, including case discussions and supervision as directed. (3-5%)
  • Assist the psychologist with supervision of psychology interns as directed. (3-5%)
  • Facilitate and lead group therapy sessions for adult patients as needed. (3-5%)
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to develop and implement treatment plans. (1%)
  • Perform other job‑related duties and special projects as assigned, which may include assisting with clinic research, assisting with social work or resource navigation as needed. (as assigned)
What We Are Looking For
  • Master’s degree in Social Work, Counseling, Psychology, or a related field from an accredited institution.
  • Minimum of five (5) years of full-time clinical experience providing psychotherapy.
  • Experience working in settings where students or trainees are present, with a demonstrated ability to serve as a mentor or clinical resource.
  • Current and valid licensure in the State of Iowa as an LISW, LMHC, or equivalent independent clinical license.
