Certified Medical Assistant - Family Health Center

Under the direct supervision of the Clinic Manager performs selected patient-care tasks for patients of all ages, gender, cultures, and backgrounds in the clinic setting. In addition, laboratory and office duties are performed as needed. This position has no supervisory responsibility.

Performance standards include demonstrating and supporting service excellence, meeting manager requests and committee responsibilities, demonstrating commitment to career growth and competence, meeting personal performance summary standards, attending unit/staff meetings, accurate data entry, compliance with patient confidentiality, and competence in specific computer applications.

Minimum qualifications include successful completion of medical assistant education with a CAAHEP or ABHES accredited program and certification with the American Association of Medical Assistants (AAMA), American Medical Technologists (RMA), or National Association for Health Professionals (NRCMA) within 6 months of hire. Current CMA certification with the National Center for Competency Testing (NCCT), American Registry of Medical Assistants (ARMA), or National Health career Association (CCMA) and completion of a medical assistant education program approved by Broadlawns Medical Center.

Ability to satisfactorily complete Broadlawns Medical Center Pharmacology requirements prior to providing care independently. Ability to successfully pass Basic Life Support Certification (Health Care Provider), if not already current with certification, prior to providing care independently.

Under the direct supervision of the Clinic Administrator/Clinic Manager, provides nursing care to patients of all ages, gender, cultures, and backgrounds in the clinic setting. In addition, laboratory and office duties are performed as needed. This position has no supervisory responsibility.

Performance standards include demonstrating consistently and supporting service excellence, meeting supervisor request, committee responsibilities, and performance improvement data collection as outlined by supervisor, demonstrating commitment to professional growth and competence, meeting personal performance summary standards, attending unit/staff meetings, accurate data entry, compliance with patient confidentiality, and competence in specified computer applications.

Minimum qualifications include current Licensed Practical Nurse License recognized by the State of Iowa Board of Nursing. Ability to satisfactorily complete Broadlawns Medical Center Pharmacology requirements prior to providing care independently. Ability to successfully pass Basic Life Support Certification (Health Care Provider) if not already current with certification, prior to providing care independently.
