Surmasis Pharmaceutical - Quality Inspector II - Thurs-Sat 7am - 7pm
Summary:
Responsible for inspector of raw materials, in process, and finished goods during production. Must ensure the product meets customer specifications and engineering drawings. Requires strong attention to detail and the ability to work independently in a fast‑paced environment with minimal supervision. Must evaluate defects based on inspection criteria and alert appropriate personnel when required.
- Follows applicable procedures, instructions, engineering drawings, and training.
- Verifies and inspects raw materials during coating procedures.
- Verifies and inspects in‑process goods during converting/packaging procedures.
- Assists in removal of product for finished order in the cell where they are working.
- Alerts appropriate leadership of any issues that arise during a production run.
- Reads, follows, and understands standard operating procedures.
- Handles all materials and chemicals according to SDS and uses required PPE.
- Works as part of the team with other employees in the manufacturing room/cleanroom.
- Maintains batch time set by manufacturing when performing inspections.
- Evaluates product defects and makes decisions regarding the status of the product based on the inspection criteria. Notifies supervision of defective parts.
- Can work with minimal supervision on inspection procedures and other assigned tasks.
- In a timely manner, performs product inspections in assigned production stage. All inspections should be performed according to established written Quality Department procedures, engineering drawings, customer specifications and documentation. This includes critical inspection items that may affect the function and safety of the product.
- Assists in the collection and verification of parts (in process/finished good sampling) both during and after production runs as required.
- Fills in as required and is trained for any position in all areas of the Quality Department.
- Alerts supervision or management of problems with materials, product, tools, etc.
- Works as a team with other employees in all departments to complete inspection functions.
- Prioritizes and completes work in a timely manner as outlined by supervision and management.
- Inspects multiple product types in any given shift—may require switching between different products throughout the shift.
- Evaluates product defects and makes decisions regarding the status of the product based on the inspection criteria. Notifies supervision to perform any necessary rework or reject classification of defective parts.
- Maintains working knowledge of processes and instrumentation used in the Quality Department.
- Leads by setting a strong example of attitude, work quality, work ethic, dependability, and company loyalty.
- Maintains regular and reliable attendance—punctuality and regular attendance are essential for plant operations, safety, and morale.
- Other duties and responsibilities may be assigned as required.
- Requests necessary supplies and resources required to complete the jobs assigned.
- Rejects nonconforming product.
- Alerts supervision regarding problems with materials, assemblies, tools, etc.
- Accepts product within specification.
Experience and Skills:
- Attention to detail and the ability to record testing results and inspection criteria accurately on quality records. Must be able to complete a position assessment test.
- Able to perform routine tasks on a continuing basis.
- Able to correctly inspect and test product according to instructions, engineering drawings, customer specifications and training.
- Able to correctly use required tools, fixtures, rulers, testing equipment, etc. involved in the testing and inspection processes.
- Able to communicate and work with others as a team.
- Able to read and write English.
- Able to read and understand the product criteria on engineering drawings.
- Able to recognize quality problems with materials, work in process, and the final product.
- Good work attendance and dependability.
- Must pass a criminal background check if working nights or shifts with minimal supervision.
