The Director of Nursing will lead the oversight of the delivery of care and overall quality of services provided by our agency, and participate in the training and supervision of direct care staff. The Director of Nursing is responsible for providing direct care to patients and conducting supervisory visits as needed. The Director of Nursing works closely with other members of the agency leadership team to execute Bright Star Care’s promise of a higher standard of premium person-centered care from companion level services to skilled care.

Responsibilities
  • Coordination of care for the client, identification of all clients’ needs through the assessment process, and implementation of the plan of care and supervisory process.
  • Provide hands on patient care – conducting initial assessments, reassessments, performing infusions, etc.
  • Effectively communicate with families, community partners, and other health care providers to ensure adequacy of services provided and supervision of staff.
  • Compliance/Promotion of the standards of quality set forth by Bright Star Care and the Joint Commission.
  • Compile and maintain data/files for Joint Commission surveys. Act as the primary point of contact during Joint Commission surveys.
  • Oversee the maintenance of client clinical records, statistics, reports, and records for evaluation and reporting of organization activities.
  • Assist in developing organization goals. Develop, recommend, and administer agency policies and procedures.
  • Supervise, educate, and coach other nursing personnel/care-giving staff. Conduct annual performance reviews for nursing staff.
  • Plan and implement in-service and training programs.
  • Stay informed about changes in nursing and home health care. Share information with appropriate organization personnel.
Education
  • Bachelor's degree in nursing preferred;
    Associate’s degree in nursing or equivalent industry experience required.
Required Qualifications
  • Active and unrestricted RN license in the state for which care is being provided.
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required.
  • Minimum of six years of clinical experience required.
  • Minimum of two years leading a team of clinicians to include RNs and LPNs experience required. Preferably in home healthcare.
  • Strong understanding of federal and state home health regulations and Nurse Practice Act. Joint Commission experience preferred.

  • Ability to work independently.
  • Knowledge of state and federal laws.
