Shift: Mon-Fri | 6:30am-3pm with on call
As a member of the surgical services team, provides care to perioperative patients ranging in age from neonates to geriatrics in a level one trauma center. The Iowa Methodist campus has 16 OR suites providing a wide range of surgical services including but not limited to cardiac, transplant, orthopedics, plastics, general surgery, pediatrics, neurosurgery, urology, gynecology, ENT and vascular surgery. Maintains a practice environment that reflects the ANA Code for Nurses, Philosophy of Nursing at UnityPoint Health with in the structure of the Professional Nurse Practice Model and in collaboration with other care givers.
In addition, the team leader collaborates with the OR management team to coordinate staff, supplies and instruments for their assigned specialties. The team leader also collaborates with physicians and other health care workers to assess, plan implement and evaluate patient care.

Responsibilities- Coordinates and assists manager/supervisor with daily operations of specialty team.
- Contributes to the maintenance of high quality, cost effective patient care by communicating with scheduling, physicians and team members regarding upcoming procedures.
- Provides clinical leadership by directing, coordinating and delegating patient care in an organized manner, allowing for flexibility and growth of team members.
- Acts as an interdepartmental liaison promoting effective team work.
- Evaluates and coaches team members relative to job performance to achieve a high level of productivity and quality care.
- Provides input regarding team members performance to supervisors/ managers.
- Acts as a liaison between physicians and sales representatives to ensure hospital and department policy is followed.
- Actively participates in value analysis. Acts as a mentor and resource to educate team members and physicians on the concepts and philosophies of value purchasing.
Education:
- Graduate of an accredited school of nursing or IA Board of Nursing approved nursing program.
License(s)/Certification(s):
- Current licensure in good standing to practice as a Registered Nurse in Iowa.
Experience:
- Three years of operating room experience.

- Level 3 Medium Work:
