Unit Overview

2 North is a 30‑bed medical‑surgical unit that provides acute care services to inpatients and observation patients. The unit specializes in Orthopedics, Gynecology, Urology, and Abdominal Surgery. 2N also cares for patients requiring remote telemetry. Our patient population includes pediatric, adolescent, adult, and aging adult.

• All newly licensed RNs with less than six months of acute RN experience at the time of application are required to participate in the RN Residency program. Newly licensed nurses must apply for Registered Nurse Residency.

Responsibilities

Successfully functions as a Registered Nurse as defined in Iowa Nursing Regulations and Practice Act. Provides nursing care for patients and families and maintains a practice environment that reflects the ANA Code for Nurses and the Philosophy of Nursing at UnityPoint Health-Des Moines within the structure of the Professional Nurse Practice Model and in collaboration with other care givers.

Qualifications Education

• Graduate of an accredited nursing program.

License(s)/Certification(s)

• Current licensure in good standing to practice as a Registered Nurse in Iowa.

Experience

• Newly licensed nurse within the last six months or less than six months acute RN experience.

Other

• Level 3 Medium Work:
  Exerting up to 50 pounds of force occasionally, up to 20 pounds frequently, and up to 10 pounds constantly to move objects.
• Completion of residency program within the first 12 months of employment.
