Responsibilities- Integrate the UnityPoint Health Des Moines Nursing Expectations of Performance in all aspects of care delivery and professional practice.
- Manage daily operations of patient care, maintaining high quality, cost‑effective services aligned with users’ needs and budgetary guidelines.
- Provide clinical leadership by directing, coordinating, and delegating patient care, allowing for flexibility.
- Serve as an interdepartmental liaison, promoting effective multidisciplinary teamwork.
- Collaborate with physicians and other health‑care team members to achieve optimal patient outcomes.
- Remain competent and available to participate in patient care pertinent to clinical specialty.
- Demonstrate personal and professional growth and promote the same among team members.
- Exhibit discretion and sound judgment in all job aspects.
- Maintain awareness of laws and regulations affecting patient care; remain current on changes and recommend courses of action to ensure compliance.
- Assist in developing policy/procedure and guidelines for safe, efficient department operation as needed.
- Assist in developing annual budget and maintain control of department financial resources.
- Implement evidence‑based practice strategies; assist in achieving quality improvement objectives.
- Interview, orient, train, schedule, evaluate, discipline, and terminate staff with appropriate input; interpret and apply personnel policies consistently.
- Represent UPHDM in a professional manner; promote positive interpersonal relations and serve as a role model within the department.
- Create an environment that promotes staff empowerment.
- Display creativity and innovation when making recommendations for improvement in service delivery.
- Instruct and lead staff to maintain high productivity; intervene to problem‑solve as needed.
- Bachelor's degree. BSN preferred.
- Two years of experience as a registered nurse in acute care.
- Current Iowa license as a registered nurse.
