American Traveler is hiring a Med/Surg RN for a night shift hospital position requiring strong heparin and post-op spine care experience along with recent travel experience.
Details- Work in a 30-bed Med Surg unit treating medical-surgical and post-op/spine patients
- Nurse-to-patient ratio of 1:5 on days and 1:6 on nights
- Night shift schedule of 3x12-hour shifts, 36 hours/week, Monday-Friday
- Weekend rotation required every third weekend
- No on-call responsibilities
- Required to float across multiple campuses (Iowa Methodist MC, Iowa Lutheran, and Iowa Methodist) when scheduled
- Uses Epic EMR
- Active Iowa RN license or compact/multistate license required
- BLS certification (AHA or ARC)
- Minimum 24 months of med surg/medical surgical experience in a hospital or medical center setting
- Strong heparin drip experience required
- Post-op/operative surgical experience required
- Spine care experience required
- Epic EMR experience required
- Minimum 3 months of current travel nursing experience within the past 12 months required; first-time travelers will not be considered
- Driver's license required for consideration
- Professional reference from supervisor/charge nurse/manager/director within past 24 months preferred
- Provide direct patient care on a busy med surg unit with post-op and spine care caseloads
- Administer and monitor heparin drips as part of daily patient care
- Navy blue solid-color scrubs required
- Holiday coverage required for 1-2 of 3 upcoming winter holidays unless the unit is closed
- Candidates must not have been employed by UnityPoint Health as an FTE or PRN float pool employee and currently work or have worked travel in another market within the past 12 months
- Local candidates within 50 miles of the facility will not be considered for this position
