Travel RN - Med​/Surg Tele

American Traveler is hiring a Med/Surg Tele RN for a Des Moines hospital requiring 24 months of med/surg tele experience and charge nurse experience.

• Active IA RN license or compact/multistate license required
• Current BLS certification (AHA or ARC) required
• Minimum 24 months of Med/Surg or Med/Surg Tele experience required
• Epic EMR experience required
• Charge nurse experience required
• Experience caring for psych patients preferred
• Precepting experience is a plus
• Driver's license required for consideration
• Professional reference from a supervisor, charge nurse, manager, director, CNO, or COO within the last 24 months preferred

• Med/Surg 3E unit providing med/surg care including overflow of post-op surgical hip/knee patients
• May receive overflow psych patients
• Patient ratios of 4-5:1 on a 24-bed unit
• Remote tele tech monitoring supports the unit
• Heparin drips administered on the unit
• Day shift schedule of 4x12s totaling 48 hrs/week (36 hrs/week can be accommodated)
• Weekend rotation every other or every third weekend depending on staffing and census
• No on-call requirements
• Required to float across Iowa Methodist MC, Iowa Lutheran, and Iowa Methodist campuses
• Epic EMR used
• Provide med/surg and telemetry nursing care across a variety of patient types, including post-op orthopedic and occasional psych overflow patients
• Navy blue, solid-color scrubs required
• Required to work 1-2 of the 3 winter holidays (Thanksgiving, Christmas, New Year's) unless the unit is closed
• No blocked shifts permitted
• Department prefers candidates willing to extend beyond the initial 13-week contract
• First-time travelers are welcome to apply
• Candidates must reside at least 50 miles from the facility
• Past UnityPoint Health employees (FTE or PRN float pool) are ineligible to work travel assignments at any UPH market facility within 12 months of separation
