Registered Nurse (RN) – IMC/PCU/Stepdown

Council Bluffs, IA | Stepdown/PCU

Contract | Night Shift | 12-Hour Shifts (6:30 PM–7:00 AM) | Cyclic Scheduling | Every Other Weekend Required | 1 Major and 1 Minor Holiday Required

• Provide direct patient care on a 22-bed Stepdown unit with a 1:4 nurse-to-patient ratio, managing common diagnoses including heart failure, atrial fibrillation, respiratory distress, and stroke
• Titrate drips including Cardizem, amiodarone, and nitroglycerin per unit protocols
• Independently read and interpret telemetry strips; telemetry monitor techs are not responsible for strip interpretation
• Manage patients requiring CPAP and troubleshoot respiratory therapy equipment as needed
• Float to ICU when appropriate and based on experience level
• Pass a unit-specific open-book skills exam during orientation with a minimum score of 90% — failure to pass will result in contract termination

• Active RN licensure
• Required certifications: BLS, ACLS, and NIHSS
• Valid driver's license required at time of submittal (used to verify radius compliance)
• Must reside at least 50 miles from the facility to be eligible
• Candidates may not be currently employed (full-time, part-time, or PRN) with any facility associated with Common Spirit, including CHI and/or Dignity, within the past year
• Artificial nails are prohibited in all patient care areas; refusal to comply will result in contract termination

• Prior experience in a Stepdown, PCU, or IMC setting with exposure to cardiac and respiratory patient populations
• Experience titrating cardiac drips such as Cardizem, amiodarone, and nitroglycerin
• ICU experience preferred for floating eligibility
• Demonstrated ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment with high admission and discharge volume

• Work on a collaborative, team-oriented unit that values a positive attitude and patient-centered care
• Gain valuable experience in a dynamic Stepdown environment with a supportive charge nurse structure on every shift
