American Traveler is hiring a Med/Surg RN for a Level III trauma unit in Des Moines, requiring 24 months of Med/Surg and pulmonary patient care experience.

• Med/Surg unit caring for a Pulmonary/Med Surg patient population
• 23-bed unit with a nurse-to-patient ratio of 1:4-6
• May care for COVID+ patients
• Uses Heparin drips
• Night shift, 4x12-hour shifts, 48 hrs/week (36 hrs/week option available)
• Weekend rotation every other or every third weekend depending on staffing/census
• No on-call requirements
• Required to float across all campuses including Iowa Methodist MC, Iowa Lutheran, and Iowa Methodist
• Uses Epic EMR

• Active Iowa (IA) RN license or compact/multistate license required
• Current BLS certification (AHA or ARC) required
• Minimum 24 months of current Med/Surg experience required
• Pulmonary patient care experience required
• Level III trauma experience required
• Experience with pulmonary/ventilated patients on BiPAP and trach care highly preferred
• Level I trauma experience highly preferred, Level II trauma experience preferred
• Charge RN experience a plus
• Valid driver's license required for consideration
• Professional reference from a supervisor, charge nurse, manager, director, CNO, or COO within the past 24 months preferred

• Provide direct patient care on a busy Med/Surg unit within a Level I Trauma Center teaching hospital
• Required to work 1-2 of 3 upcoming winter holidays unless the unit is closed
• First-time travelers will be considered if the 2+ year Med/Surg experience requirement is met
• Candidates must not reside within 50 miles of the facility
• Past employees of the health system (FTE or PRN float pool) are ineligible to work travel assignments at any facility within the system or other markets, unless their most recent role was itself a travel assignment
