Kemin is currently seeking a Sr. Quality Control Specialist to join our team in Des Moines, IA! This position will be part of our CALTAX group. The CALTAX group provides internal support to the global Kemin business units for our risk assessment of both raw materials and finished goods.

Our current offering of ISO accredited testing includes pesticides, dioxins, PCBs, and antibiotics. An ideal candidate can work closely with the current team to perform these routine tests and maintain the associated instruments. The role will require advanced troubleshooting of the instruments and will work with third party support teams as needed.

Responsibilities
  • Perform various types of raw material and finished goods testing
  • Operate and maintain lab instruments.
  • Daily data entry and run reports in ERP system, as defined and as applicable.
  • Perform method validation process.
  • Record basic data and perform advanced data analysis.
  • Provide data to support strategic plan and/or budget, as requested.
  • Participate in internal audits, as applicable.
  • Provide external audits support, as applicable.
  • Review batch records, as applicable.
  • Must follow, create procedures and SOPs/forms.
  • Must maintain proper quality documentation.
  • Generate and review Certificates of Analysis.
  • Support Change Management functions.
  • Responsible for raw material and finished goods release, with authorization, as applicable.
  • Perform lot tracing as applicable.
  • Report any nonconformities by following applicable SOPs.
  • Generate nonconformities report and communicate to stakeholders, as applicable.
  • Coordinate supplier qualification tests, as applicable.
  • Contribute to reports and deliver internal presentations.
  • Must work closely with cross functional teams (including Operations, R&D, and other quality groups.)
  • Follows and maintains an environment of food and/or feed safety in compliance with rules and regulations, as applicable.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor's Degree in a related field with 5+ years of experience or a Master's Degree with 2+ years of related experience
  • Advanced working knowledge on all lab instruments and method validations.
  • Strong written and oral communication skills.
  • Must be able to use computer systems, including MS Office, M3 and LIMs, etc.
  • Must have attention to detail.
  • Must have project management skills.
  • Familiarity with SPC principles and practices.
  • Ability to operate, troubleshoot, perform maintenance, instruct and perform method validation on lab equipment.
  • Ability to interact well with others in a team environment.
