Lab Quality Specialist Job Description

We are seeking a dedicated Quality Specialist to join our team. This role involves performing quality assurance and analytical testing at our laboratory facilities. The Quality Specialist will report to the Vice President of Regulatory Compliance and will be responsible for ensuring compliance with company procedures and regulatory standards, as well as maintaining a safe and organized laboratory environment.

Responsibilities
  • Test all samples submitted for evaluation according to applicable specifications, standards, or requests.
  • Develop laboratory reports detailing test results, analysis of data, and subsequent recommendations.
  • Assist in the development and improvement of products offered to customers.
  • Maintain the laboratory in a clean and organized manner.
  • Maintain a working knowledge of Hazardous Waste Programs and EPA regulations as defined in the Code of Federal Regulations.
  • Minimize waste generation through careful handling of samples and collection of reusable products.
  • Collect hazardous waste in a grounded and bonded, self-closing, flame arresting container located within the laboratory.
  • Transfer laboratory waste containers into larger marked labeled hazardous waste containers within the hazardous waste storage area.
  • Calibrate and maintain laboratory equipment according to schedule.
  • Maintain reagents and raw material samples in quantities sufficient for testing, development, and improvement projects.
  • Maintain knowledge of product lines, their applications, and their safe use.
  • Assist customers and marketing representatives by providing technical information and making recommendations.
  • Develop Hazard Communication documents such as safety data sheets and product quality management system compliance with recognized international standards.
Essential Skills
  • Proficiency in Chemistry, Gas Chromatography, and Titration.
  • Strong understanding of Quality Control and Quality Assurance.
Additional

Skills & Qualifications
  • Bachelor's Degree in the Life Sciences, with a preference for Chemistry or Biochemistry.
  • 1-3 years of prior lab experience is preferred but open to new graduates.
  • Preferred knowledge of laboratory techniques such as GC, IR Spec, Gravity Meter, Moisture Testing, and Titrations.
Work Environment

Our work environment is family-oriented and emphasizes a small, close-knit team culture. We offer opportunities for upward growth and profit sharing. The position involves a Monday to Friday shift from 7 AM to 5 PM, totaling 45 hours per week, with occasional weekend work as needed. Initially, the role will be more lab-focused during the training period. The position is 90% office-based Quality Assurance work, with 10% in the lab.

If you start before January 1st, you will have 2 weeks of vacation. If you start after January 1st, you will accrue one day of PTO each month.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $60000.00 - $60000.00/yr.
