Overview

We are seeking a reliable and hardworking Installation Technician to join our team. This role is hands‑on and physically demanding, requiring strong attention to detail, the ability to read blueprints, and proficiency with hand and power tools. The ideal candidate brings a strong work ethic, mechanical aptitude, and a commitment to delivering high‑quality service to customers.

Key Responsibilities
  • Pull products from the warehouse and load/unload trucks using equipment or by hand
  • Carry products up and down stairs when elevators are not available
  • Offload, identify, and stage products for installation; remove debris as needed
  • Assemble, align, and level systems furniture; install electrical components and verify functionality
  • Install, adjust, and assemble case goods and seating products
  • Disassemble, move, and reassemble systems furniture as required
  • Review floor plans before and during installation to understand layout and critical dimensions
  • Use hand, power, and mechanical tools safely and correctly
  • Attend team meetings and perform additional duties as assigned
Skills & Qualifications
  • Ability to lift up to 100 lbs
  • Proficiency utilizing hand and power tools
  • Ability to read a tape measure and interpret instructional blueprints
  • Experience with assembly or carpentry preferred
  • Valid driver’s license and clean background check (no unlawful acts on record)
Additional Preferred Skills
  • Previous experience in contracting, installation, carpentry, or furniture assembly
  • Strong mechanical aptitude
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team

Work Environment

This role operates within a large warehouse facility that includes both furniture and supply divisions. Installation sites vary and may include corporate offices, small businesses, schools, and government buildings throughout the Des Moines area.

  • Work may occur in varying temperatures
  • Must be able to lift up to 100 lbs
  • Standard schedule:
    Monday–Friday, 7:45 a.m.–4:30 p.m.
  • Extended hours may be required based on project needs
  • Candidates must provide their own gloves, knee pads, and steel‑toed shoes
  • Work is performed in crews of 3–4, depending on project size
Job Type & Location

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Des Moines, IA.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $18.00 – $19.00 per hour.
