We are looking for a talented Diesel Technician to join our Distribution business in Des Moines, IA. In this role you will make an impact in the following ways:
- Complete repairs on engine products in a service shop
- Perform maintenance and repairs utilizing diagnostic tools
- Maintain detailed records of serviced vehicles
- Adhere to Cummins Health, Safety & Environmental policies
- Ongoing development and certifications on new and existing Cummins products
- Maintain own tools
To be successful in this role you will need the following:
- Primarily engaged in maintenance or basic repairs, diagnostics
- Requires direct supervision and review of workmanship quality
- Demonstrates an understanding of access to engine repair process information sources
- Understands after‑treatment system and can identify major components and their function at a rudimentary level
- Has worked on external components on a diesel engine and understands the basic concepts
- Has some knowledge of engine diagnostic software
Base salary rate commensurate with experience. Education, Licenses & Certifications• Apprentice Trained Engine Technician (Preferred)
• Vocational diploma from a relevant technical institution
• Locally valid driving permit (Preferred)
• Valid driver’s license and a clean 5‑year motor vehicle record
• Minimal level of workshop experience required
• Basic knowledge of and/or experience with engine products
- Communicates effectively
- Ensures accountability
- Mechanical knowledge of Cummins and industry standards, including safe work procedures and PPE
- Repair and maintain mechanical/electrical products following guidelines and using required tools within standard repair time
- Disassembles and assembles engines or power generators following guidelines
- Inspects and replaces parts and components following re-use guidelines to minimize customer cost of ownership
