Role Description The Direct Support Professional (DSP) role at Crest Services is a full-time, on-site position based in Des Moines, IA. In this role, the DSP provides direct support to individuals with disabilities, assisting with daily living activities such as personal care, meal preparation, and household tasks. The DSP helps individuals participate in community activities, build social connections, and access local resources in line with their personal goals and preferences.

Daily responsibilities include following support plans, documenting services, promoting safety and well-being, and encouraging skill development and independence. The DSP works as part of a team, communicates regularly with supervisors and coworkers, and maintains a respectful, person-centered approach in all interactions.

Qualifications

• Ability to provide compassionate, person-centered support and demonstrate respect for individual choices and needs.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills to work effectively with individuals, families, and colleagues.
• Basic organizational and time-management skills to follow schedules, support plans, and documentation requirements.
• Capacity to assist with daily living tasks, including personal care, meal preparation, and household support.
• Commitment to promoting community inclusion, safety, and independence for people with disabilities.
• High school diploma or equivalent; prior experience in direct support, human services, or caregiving is beneficial.
• Ability to meet physical demands of the role, such as assisting with mobility and performing routine household tasks.
• Willingness to complete required training, including first aid/CPR and other applicable certifications.
• Reliable transportation to the Des Moines, IA worksite and ability to work assigned shifts, including evenings or weekends as needed.
