Job Description

We are seeking a Sr. Software Engineer to join our Technology division within the Value Management organization. This role is ideal for an engineer who thrives at the intersection of enterprise platforms, automation, and data.

As part of our transition to a product operating model and SAFe, this engineer will help shape the way our teams work by building seamless integrations, automations, and workflows across the tools that power our enterprise portfolio:
Azure Dev Ops, BMC Helix, Planview, and our OKR management solutions.

The successful candidate will bring strong experience in:

  • Integration engineering (APIs, webhooks, SaaS connectors, middleware)
  • Automation & workflow design within and across platforms
  • Data integration and modeling, with a mindset of treating data as a product
  • Scripting/programming (Python, Power Shell, JavaScript) to enable automation
  • Collaboration & leadership, partnering across technology and business teams to deliver scalable, value‑driven solutions

This role goes beyond supporting a single platform — in partnership with your Tech Lead you will help with cross‑platform automation and data integration, ensuring that the tools our teams use are connected, efficient, and delivering high‑quality data into our enterprise data mart.

If you have a passion for building integrations, orchestrating workflows, and enabling teams through automation and data, we’d love to meet you.

You will assist in the development and design for highly complex solutions that are efficient and cost effective, which support Wellmark’s business and Technology initiatives. Additionally, you will ensure the product aligns with business expectations and development logic meets Wellmark standards and security requirements.

While this role is approved for remote eligible, we will be focusing on talent local to Des Moines, IA first.

  • Strong experience integrating multiple SaaS/enterprise tools via REST/SOAP APIs, webhooks, or middleware (Mule Soft, Boomi, Logic Apps, etc.).
  • Development of end‑to‑end workflow automation across tools.
  • Configured, automated, and integrated BMC Helix (or equivalent ITSM like Service Now).
  • Hands‑on integration/automation experience with Planview and/or OKR management systems.
  • Proficient in Python, Power Shell, or JavaScript for automation and API calls.
  • Familiar with dimensional models and experience aligning integration design toward data as a product initiatives.
  • Experience working within an Agile team environment.
  • Experience partnering with global staffing vendors to deliver projects.
Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, MIS, or related field of study, and at least 2 years of software development experience (ex. Angular, NodeJS, Type Script, C++, .NET, Java, SQL) OR 6 years of related and applicable experience.
