Mid American Energy Company Our team is building is building a modern hybrid cloud platform from the ground up to support the next generation of applications across our organization. The platform provides the foundational infrastructure, container runtime environments, developer tooling, messaging systems, and observability capabilities required to run reliable and scalable applications. This is a greenfield engineering opportunity. The team is designing and implementing the core platform architecture that will operate across our data centers and cloud environments.

Engineers on this team help define how infrastructure is provisioned, how Kubernetes platforms are operated, and how automation enables consistent and scalable operations. Our approach emphasizes software-driven infrastructure, infrastructure-as-code, Git-based workflows, and modern observability practices. Engineers on the platform team build production-grade systems that reduce operational complexity and enable teams to operate systems through automated and self-service capabilities.

QualificationsBachelor's degree in management information systems (MIS), computer science, or related technical field; or equivalent work experience. (Typically four years of related, progressive work experience would be needed for candidates applying for this position who do not possess a bachelor's degree.) A minimum of six years of experience in automation engineering, infrastructure engineering, platform engineering, or software engineering is required.  Automation engineering, infrastructure engineering, platform engineering, or software engineering Strong programming skills in at least one language used for automation development (Go, Python, or Java) Experience working with Linux systems and distributed environments Core Technical Experience Experience in several of the following areas:
Infrastructure automation and operational tooling Infrastructure-as-code tools such as Terraform CI/CD pipelines and Git-based workflows Automation of infrastructure or operational processes Cloud platforms or hybrid infrastructure environments Observability systems including Prometheus, Grafana, or Open Telemetry API-driven automation and system integrations

Preferred Qualifications:

Experience with Kubernetes platforms and container infrastructure Experience implementing Git Ops workflows Experience building internal developer or operational tooling Experience automating incident response or operational workflows Experience contributing to open-source infrastructure or automation tools
