Lead Software Engineer

We don't need a Lead Software Engineer who knows everything about AWS; we need one curious enough to find out what they don't. The reward structure favors doers: $128,000 - $173,000 upfront, real technology ownership, and a Bristol Myers Squibb team pulling the same direction.

• Troubleshoot and resolve production incidents across Ruby on Rails-based applications
• Replace the brittle Next.js hack with an Emotional Intelligence solution that survives Ames scale
• Evaluate and recommend new tools, frameworks, and Next.js libraries
• Keep C# schemas backward-compatible so Bristol Myers Squibb never forces a breaking upgrade
• Wrangle Emotional Intelligence config across environments so Ames staging mirrors production
• Mentor newer lead hires on how Bristol Myers Squibb actually wires AWS together
• Contribute to sprint planning, estimation, and technology roadmap discussions

• Willingness to commute to Ames, IA or work flexibly as needed
• Comfort owning technology decisions in an IA market
• Sound instincts for reading a room you've never been in before
• The composure to deliver bad news early and clearly
• Comfort being accountable for a low-drama outcome in a contract role

The make-it-better culture at Bristol Myers Squibb is what keeps our Ames, IA team building remarkable things together. You set the boundaries of your contract schedule and we respect them without the side-eye.

With $128,000 - $173,000 as the anchor, expect mentorship, a benefits package worth bragging about, and the latitude to work remote-first.
