Position:
Substitute Program Leader

Status:
Part-Time

Substitute Program Leaders work at various sites across the region, with assignments based on availability. They work directly with students, serving as positive role models, coaches, and mentors, fostering a safe and nurturing environment. The role requires leadership, communication, patience, and a commitment to student development.

Responsibilities

Provide homework help, academic enrichment, and physical activities using provided curricula.

Create an engaging environment that promotes belonging.

Support positive behavior and enforce discipline when needed.

Implement and assist in lesson plans to engage students.

Ensure safety by maintaining the site and assisting with setup and cleanup.

Promote positive interactions adhering to child safety guidelines.

Maintain attendance records and review sign-ins/sign-outs.

Identify student needs and communicate with relevant staff and parents.

Commit to a full-year program, arriving on time daily and completing time cards.

Participate in staff development activities.

Requirements

Experience working with young children and the ability to motivate.

High school diploma or G.E.D. required; 48 college semester or 60 quarter units, or passing an Instructional Aide Test.

Proficiency in standard English communication.

Availability for at least 3 days a week (Monday-Friday).

Program hours roughly 1:00 PM - 6:00 PM, with possible variations.

Background Checks/Testing

Pass Live Scan background check.

Provide a clear TB test.

Pass Math and English skills tests (K-8).
