The Certified Nurse Aide (CNA) plays a critical role in delivering compassionate and high-quality care to patients within healthcare settings during assigned shifts from 6 AM to 6 PM or 6 PM to 6 AM. This position is essential in supporting nursing staff by assisting patients with daily living activities, monitoring their health status, and ensuring their comfort and safety. The CNA serves as a vital link between patients and the healthcare team, providing timely and accurate information to nurses and other medical professionals.

Through attentive care and effective communication, the CNA helps to promote patient dignity and well-being while contributing to a positive healthcare environment. Ultimately, this role ensures that patients receive personalized care that meets their physical and emotional needs around the clock.

• Current and valid CNA certification as required by state regulations.
• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Basic knowledge of patient care techniques and infection control standards.
• Ability to pass a background check and drug screening.
• Physical capability to perform duties including lifting, bending, and standing for extended periods.

• Previous experience working as a CNA in a healthcare setting such as a hospital, nursing home, or assisted living facility.
• CPR and First Aid certification.
• Familiarity with electronic health record (EHR) systems.
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
• Ability to work effectively in a team-oriented environment.

• Assist patients with activities of daily living including bathing, dressing, grooming, toileting, and feeding as needed.
• Monitor and record vital signs such as temperature, pulse, respiration, and blood pressure, reporting any significant changes to nursing staff.
• Provide mobility support by helping patients move safely within the facility, including transferring and positioning in bed or wheelchair.
• Maintain a clean, safe, and comfortable environment for patients by following infection control protocols and facility guidelines.
• Communicate effectively with patients, families, and healthcare team members to ensure coordinated and comprehensive care.
• Support nursing staff with routine clinical tasks and documentation to facilitate efficient patient care delivery.
• Respond promptly to patient call lights and requests, ensuring timely assistance and attention to patient needs.

The required skills enable the CNA to provide direct patient care with competence and compassion, ensuring that all daily living needs are met safely and respectfully. Effective communication skills are essential for interacting with patients who may have diverse needs and for collaborating with nursing staff to relay important health information. Attention to detail and observational skills are used daily to monitor patient conditions and identify any changes that require intervention.

Physical stamina and manual dexterity are necessary to assist patients with mobility and personal care tasks throughout the shift. Preferred skills such as familiarity with electronic health records and CPR certification enhance the CNA's ability to contribute to efficient care delivery and respond to emergencies promptly.
