Responsibilities

Hickory Trail Hospital
, an 86‑bed behavioral health facility located just south of Dallas, has been providing quality health care to the residents of DFW since 1988. The hospital offers inpatient and day treatment for children, adolescents, adults, and senior adults. Our professional staff individualizes care to fit each client’s case and their family’s needs. Services are available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, and we are a proud supporter of the National Action Alliance for Suicide Prevention.

The Intake Counselor, under the supervision of the Director of Admissions, interviews and assesses potential patients and inquiry callers. The Intake Counselor works with the Business Office regarding patient financial data and with the UR Department for patient certification. The candidate also initiates the referral process when indicated and communicates with referral sources.

• Tuesday, Wednesday, Sunday
• 6:45 am – 7:15 pm (12 hours)

• Education: Master’s Degree from an accredited college or university in Social Work or a clinically related mental health field (required).
• Experience: 2–3 years in substance abuse/psychiatric treatment programs, including intake/admissions experience. Managed‑care experience preferred.
• License: Must be state certified in social work or a related mental health field. LPC, LMSW, or LCSW; RN or LFMT license required (required).
• Additional Requirements: CPR certification. CPI and Verbal De‑Escalation training within 30 days of employment. Must pass a competency exam upon hire. Flexible hours and overtime may be required.
