PHYSICIAN – Psychiatrist – Outpatient (Detroit Lakes, MN)
Essentia Health is hiring a Psychiatrist to join the Detroit Lakes Behavioral Health Department. The department currently comprises 3 (2 part‑time) Psychiatrists, 3 Psychologists, 3 Psychotherapists, and is recruiting a Psychiatrist Nurse Practitioner.
- No call and no weekend duties.
- Provide adult psychiatry services (age 18+). Ability to see patients under 18 is desirable.
- Outpatient clinic setting with scheduled appointments: medication checks and rechecks 20‑30 minutes; new patient visits 60 minutes.
- No after‑hours hospital call coverage; limited ED and inpatient consultation requests accepted. Local crisis team supports ED patients.
- Possible outreach opportunities to other Essentia Health clinics within driving distance.
- Future use of telemedicine for outpatient services is anticipated.
- Monthly nursing home rounds (1–2 times per month).
Qualifications
- Board Certified or Board Eligible in Psychiatry.
- Valid Michigan medical license and DEA registration.
Location
- Centrally located in the heart of the Lakes Area.
- Approximately 1 hour from Fargo and 3 hours from Minneapolis/St. Paul.
- Detroit Lakes population: 8,100.
- Regional service area includes 4 clinics and 1 hospital.
Compensation
- Base salary of $323,000.
- Eligibility for additional compensation through bonuses, quality incentives, and production‑based incentives.
