Angott Search Group is seeking a hands‑on, detail‑oriented Controller to join a long‑standing, family‑owned business with retail, grocery, and manufacturing operations. This role will oversee all accounting functions, strengthen financial processes, and provide strategic insight to ownership as the company continues to grow.
Position OverviewThe Controller is responsible for daily accounting operations, financial reporting, inventory costing, compliance, and continuous process improvement. This position requires someone who can balance tactical execution with strategic thinking while thriving in a collaborative, family‑business culture.
Key Responsibilities- Manage AP, AR, payroll, banking, GL maintenance, and month/year‑end close.
- Prepare timely financial statements, budgets, KPIs, forecasts, and variance analysis.
- Maintain and improve product costing models, margins, and inventory accuracy.
- Partner with operations to reduce waste and improve cost controls.
- Coordinate with outside CPA for audits and tax filings; ensure GAAP compliance.
- Identify opportunities to streamline accounting systems and reporting processes.
- Serve as a trusted advisor to ownership and collaborate across operations, retail, HR, and sales.
- Bachelor’s in Accounting, Finance, or related field.
- 3+ years of accounting experience (manufacturing, food production, retail, or CPG preferred).
- Strong GAAP knowledge; experience with costing, inventory accounting, multi‑location operations.
- Familiarity with modern accounting systems and ADP.
- Experience in a family‑owned or closely held business.
- Exposure to food manufacturing compliance (a plus, not required).
- High integrity and strong alignment with family‑business values.
- Analytical, detail‑oriented, and organized.
- Strong communication and collaboration skills.
- Proactive mindset with ability to improve systems and processes.
