Director of Corporate Accounting

LHH Recruitment Solutions is partnering with an established and growing manufacturing organization in Metro Detroit on a Director of Corporate Accounting opportunity. This role is an excellent fit for a technically strong accounting leader who brings a foundation in public accounting, hands-on corporate accounting experience, and a strong understanding of manufacturing and standard costing.

This is a highly visible, hands-on leadership role with ownership over the accounting function and an opportunity to strengthen processes, controls, and procedures while developing a growing accounting team.

• Opportunity to own and improve accounting processes, procedures, and internal controls
• Broad responsibility across close, audit, tax, working capital, and financial reporting
• Hands-on role where you can directly influence the accounting function and team development

• Own the monthly, quarterly, and annual close process
• Oversee general ledger accounting, journal entries, reconciliations, accruals, and supporting schedules
• Ensure accurate financial reporting in accordance with US GAAP
• Establish, document, and strengthen accounting policies, procedures, and internal controls
• Oversee accounts payable and accounts receivable operations
• Partner with leadership to improve working capital and accounting processes
• Serve as the primary liaison for external auditors and support year-end audit requirements
• Maintain audit-ready financial records and support preparedness for potential quality of earnings reviews
• Oversee applicable tax compliance and coordinate with external tax advisors
  
  Manage, mentor, and develop a team of accounting professionals
• Support and improve accounting systems, reporting tools, and automation initiatives
• Remain hands-on within the accounting function while providing leadership and strategic direction

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance
• CPA required
• Public accounting experience
• Corporate accounting experience following public accounting
• Manufacturing industry experience
• Strong knowledge of US GAAP, internal controls, and financial reporting
• Proven leadership and people-management experience
• Experience developing and implementing robust accounting processes and procedures
• Strong month-end close, general ledger, reconciliation, and audit experience
• Comfortable operating as a working manager who can both lead the team and step directly into the details
• Ability to quickly take ownership of an established accounting function and identify opportunities for improvement
