Senior Associate (Audit & Tax) - Detroit, MI

We are seeking an organized and proactive professional with 3+ years of accounting experience, ideally in public accounting, who communicates effectively and thrives in a dynamic team environment.

You will lead audit engagements, prepare and review tax returns, perform technical research, manage multiple projects, and support both audit and tax consulting initiatives.

This is a full-time position available for immediate hire.

Based in our confidential client’s Detroit, MI office.

The Senior Associate (Audit & Tax) will supervise audit engagements, prepare and review tax filings, conduct technical research, manage client communication, and support consulting projects while helping develop junior staff and contributing to business development efforts.

• Lead and supervise audit engagements across multiple industries.
• Develop and execute audit programs by defining objectives, identifying risks, evaluating controls, and designing testing procedures.
• Perform technical accounting research on diverse accounting topics.
• Prepare and review Federal and state corporate, partnership, and individual tax returns.
• Assist with preparation and review of ASC 740 tax provisions.
• Conduct tax consulting projects, including permanent establishment analyses and nexus studies.
• Stay current on tax law changes and perform in-depth research as needed.
• Serve as a point of contact for clients and respond to tax-related inquiries.
• Manage multiple engagements with accuracy and strong attention to detail.
• Maintain active communication to manage timelines and client expectations.
• Delegate work effectively and support staff development through training and feedback.
• Collaborate with partners and senior managers on proposals and business development.

• 3+ years of professional experience, preferably in public accounting.
• BA/BS in Accounting or Master’s in Accounting/Taxation.
• Excellent research, writing, and communication skills in English.
• Strong analytical, problem-solving, and process-oriented mindset.
• Solid organizational and multitasking abilities.
• Positive, team-oriented attitude.

• Experience working on both audit and tax engagements.
• CPA license or similar certification (preferred).
• German language skills helpful but not required.
• Experience with manufacturing and distribution clients.
• Pro System fx Engagement and CCH Axcess experience.
