Hygienist

Salary: $24.00-$27.00 per hour;
Schedule: Open Schedule;
Location: Sterling Heights, MI.

Under the direction of the Dental Director, the Dental Hygienist will evaluate the oral health of patients and perform oral hygiene procedures in accordance with treatment plans as prescribed by the attending and on‑duty Dentist. Additional duties include completing accurate documentation through electronic medical records, preparing for patient procedures and visits, providing education to patients, and training and mentoring dental staff.

• Reviews patient medical history and educates patients on their orthodontic and general dentistry needs.
• Evaluates overall oral health and examines the oral cavity for signs of disease.
• Follows oral hygiene procedures as specified in treatment plans prescribed by the attending Dentist.
• Documents dental history, chief complaint, and records pertinent observations and patient reactions.
• Documents procedures and ensures follow‑up on results.
• Prepares trays, pre‑ and post‑procedure room and instrument cleanings, and transitions patients from the lobby, assists with exams alongside the dentist.
• Works effectively with the doctor, dental assistant, office manager, receptionist, and other hygienists; provides mentoring and training to dental assistants and other hygienists.

• Knowledge regarding laws related to HIPAA and patient confidentiality.
• Computer skills and familiarity with electronic medical records.
• Skilled in educating and communicating effectively to inspire patient adoption of healthy oral hygiene practices.
• Digital x‑ray experience required.

• Associates or Bachelor's degree in Dental Hygiene.
• Michigan Registered Dental Hygienist (RDH) License.
• Minimum of 2 years of experience in clinical aspects of the dental field; preferably 1 year as a Dental Hygienist.

• Must be able to hear and speak clearly to communicate with clients and staff.
• Must be able to have vision adequate to read documents, computer screens, registration forms and other clinic documents, and to perform oral hygiene exams and procedures.
• Manual dexterity; the ability to lift at least 20 pounds; and the ability to sit or stand for extended periods.
