Position Highlights
- Join a non‑profit, hospital‑based hospice with over 30 years of dedicated service to the Southeast Michigan community.
- Collaborate with a seasoned interdisciplinary team committed to high‑quality, patient‑centered care.
- Serve as faculty for our ACGME‑accredited Hospice and Palliative Medicine Fellowship Program (2 fellows/year).
- Practice at a respected academic institution affiliated with Michigan State University College of Human Medicine and Wayne State University School of Medicine.
- Care for a diverse patient population across a variety of settings.
- Structured orientation and ongoing mentorship provided by the Hospice Medical Director.
- Depending on interests and skills, there may be opportunities to provide coverage for inpatient hospice patients and perform palliative care consultations.
- With support from the Hospice Medical Director, lead the medical oversight of hospice patient care services.
- In collaboration with the Hospice Medical Director, deliver educational seminars and outreach to health system and community clinicians to enhance awareness and access to hospice services.
- Collaborate with attending physicians and the interdisciplinary team to manage terminal illnesses, related conditions, and symptom distress.
- Conduct home visits when clinically appropriate and as requested by the care team.
- Apply expertise in prognostication and hospice regulations to assess eligibility, related diagnoses, and appropriate levels of care.
- Teach and mentor medical students, residents, fellows, and other learners.
- Engage in scholarly activities including education, quality improvement, and/or research.
- Initial board certification in a primary specialty.
- Board-certified or board‑eligible in Hospice and Palliative Medicine.
- Completion of a Palliative Medicine Fellowship or equivalent experience.
- Demonstrated qualities of being self‑directed, flexible, team‑oriented, and committed to continuous learning.
