JOB TITLE: Recruitment and Intake Navigator

DIVISION: Youth Services

LOCATION: Samaritan Center - 5555 Conner St, Detroit, MI 48213 (East)

REPORTS TO: Lead Program Specialist

FLSA STATUS: Non-Exempt/Hourly

CLASSIFICATION: Full-Time Temporary

JOB SUMMARY

Responsible for outreach, recruitment and the initial assessment of applicants for program enrollment and determining eligibility for training/educational services. Provides support to facilitating activities related to both participant and agency related programming and barrier removal.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESOLUTIONS
  • Recruit qualified applicants through innovative and strategic outreach activities to meet enrollment goals across SER Metro Detroit’s Youth Services department.
  • Track and contact new inquiries daily, providing information on all SER Metro Detroit programs available ongoing and as needed based on the number of candidates in the pipeline.
  • Conduct orientations for Youth Service candidates that provide a detailed overview of all programs ongoing.
  • Complete a comprehensive interview with each enrolled candidate to identify and request support services to overcome educational and employment barriers.
  • Advise customers on program rights and responsibilities.
  • Complete and submit files for review and approval to appropriate Lead Team Member for initial review, and final submission to the Lead Data Specialist.
  • Provide weekly reports on partnerships, inquiries, enrollments, outreach, recruitment, and intake activities.
  • Treat all participants, visitors, and community partners with respect and care.
  • Enter candidate information into electronic databases and shared documents promptly.
  • Record recruitment and program attendance in the youth system.
  • Maintain detailed participant records and an organized, secure filing system.
  • Proctor CASA testing to monitor academic progress weekly.
  • Promote SER METRO DETROIT Youth Services at community events, career, and job fairs, and other events that align with agency programming and target audience.
  • Build and maintain relationships with community representatives, educational institutions, and other stakeholders.
  • Assist in implementing strategic outreach plans and ground-level community outreach.
  • Follow-up with referral partners to ensure satisfaction.
  • Report concerns to the supervisor.
  • Perform other duties as assigned to support the team.

    JOB QUALIFICATIONS
  • Associate degree preferred; high school diploma or GED certificate required.
  • Three years of customer service, sales and/or experience in outreach, social services, and recruitment.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills to effectively engage with applicants, partners, and stakeholders.
  • Comfort with conducting orientations and representing the organization at events.
  • Knowledge of or ability to learn data tracking and management information systems.
  • Excellent writing and editing skills in English, as well as excellent verbal and written communication skills and attention to details.
  • Bilingual language skills in English/Spanish or English/Arabic preferred.
  • Interpersonal skills necessary to effectively communicate with staff, participants, and partner agencies.
  • Ability to build and maintain relationships with diverse groups, showing empathy and respect.
  • Efficiently manage multiple tasks, maintain detailed records, and ensure compliance with policies.
  • Understanding of the issues facing young people today.
  • Strong commitment to helping young people succeed in an innovative training program, to reorient their lives, nurture their leadership skills and enable them to make a difference in their community.
  • Ability to relate sensitively to a multiracial and multicultural group of young people.
  • Demonstrate self-motivation, initiative and persistence as well as a background in communications/campaign strategy.
  • Interpersonal skills necessary to effectively communicate with staff, participants and partner agencies.
  • Strong prioritizing, organization, and project management skills.
