A lead infant teacher's duties include:
Caregiving:
Being the primary caregiver for a small number of children, helping with daily activities, and ensuring their safety
Planning:
Creating and implementing developmentally appropriate activities and lesson plans, and conducting child assessments
Communicating:
Regularly communicating with parents about their child's progress, and facilitating parent-teacher conferences
Supervising:
Supervising assistant teachers and ensuring they are following program policy
Training:
Training assistant teachers and floaters, and directing them on their duties
Record keeping:
Maintaining proper records, including documenting observations and milestones
Behavior management:
Developing and implementing behavior management strategies
Safety:
Ensuring all safety regulations are followed
Modeling:
Modeling appropriate behaviors for children
Reporting:
Reporting any signs of abuse or neglect to authorities
Infant teachers also provide a nurturing environment for infants to develop and reach age-appropriate milestones. They act as a bridge between home and early education, offering guidance and resources to parents.
