Teacher – Graduation Completion Specialist
The Teacher – Graduation Completion Specialist supports high school students who are at risk of falling behind or not graduating on time. This role focuses on academic intervention, personalized instruction, and targeted support to help students meet graduation requirements. The specialist works closely with school staff, counselors, and families to develop individualized learning plans, monitor progress, and provide the resources students need to succeed.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide direct instruction and academic support to students needing credit recovery or additional coursework to meet graduation requirements.
- Develop individualized learning plans based on each student’s academic history, strengths, challenges, and graduation goals.
- Track student progress, attendance, assignment completion, and credit accumulation.
- Deliver small-group and one-on-one instruction using approved curriculum and intervention tools.
- Coordinate with teachers, counselors, and administrators to align support services with school policies and student needs.
- Communicate regularly with families regarding progress, expectations, and next steps.
- Assist students with scheduling classes, completing missed assignments, and accessing credit recovery programs.
- Monitor graduation pathways to ensure students remain on track for timely completion.
- Provide mentorship, motivation, and guidance to encourage persistence and academic success.
- Maintain accurate records and comply with district and state reporting requirements.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Education or related field required.
- Valid teaching certification in the state of Michigan (or eligible for certification).
- Experience working with at-risk youth, credit recovery programs, or alternative education preferred.
- Strong communication, organization, and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to build rapport with students and motivate them through challenges.
- Proficiency with digital learning platforms and online instructional tools.
- School-based setting with a combination of classroom instruction, small-group support, and individual student meetings.
- May include occasional evening or family engagement sessions.
