To provide a well‑organized, smoothly functioning class environment in which Special Needs students can take full advantage of the instructional program and available resource materials.

• Implement specific student goals and objectives in the areas of communication, hygiene and behavior.
• Follow specific behavior and medical plans.
• Communicate effectively in the classroom, in writing and in person with students, staff and parents.
• Perform necessary physical tasks as needed by each student, such as pushing a wheelchair, transferring a student in and out of a wheelchair, assisting in toileting, changing diapers, handling personal hygiene needs, and medically invasive procedures such as catheterization or feeding tubes.
• Make quick, accurate and reasonable decisions when dealing with the instructional, behavioral and/or medical plans of students.

• Ability to work with a variety of staff including teachers.
• Ability to lift 40 pounds.
• Trained or willing to be trained in non‑violent crisis intervention and physical management.
• Ability to read, comprehend, write simple correspondence.
• Strong communication with a clear, rational thought process.
• Ability to modify student lessons according to individual plan.
• Mathematical skills for simple calculations.
• Use of calculators and basic computer skills.
• Common sense for instruction and the ability to articulate instructions clearly.
• Decisiveness in student wellbeing and safety, ability to handle volatile situations.
• Modify classroom assignments with appropriate instructional methods.
• Assist students in mediating relationship problems when needed.

• $18.00 per hour
• Monday – Friday
• 7.5 hours per day
