About ANet

Achievement Network (ANet) is a national nonprofit dedicated to providing instructional tools, coaching, and partnership to schools and districts to advance educational equity and improve student learning. Our work centers on cultivating strong instructional leadership, deepening use of high-quality materials, and building sustainable systems that support great teaching for all students.

We work shoulder-to-shoulder with educators, honoring their expertise while helping them navigate the complexity of instruction, data, and curriculum implementation.

Opportunity

The Instructional Coach – Math supports partner middle schools in strengthening high-quality math instruction across grades 6–8. This role is ideal for experienced math educators or instructional leaders seeking meaningful, school-facing work within a structured 10-hour fixed-term schedule.

This is a fixed-term W2 role, scoped intentionally at 10 hours per week. Hours may fluctuate slightly based on partner needs, coaching cadence, or school schedules, while remaining aligned to a 10-hour weekly average. Renewal is based on district renewals, scope of work, and organizational priorities.

Travel

This role requires regular, in-person coaching at partner schools estimated at every other week. During on-site coaching weeks, coaches are typically in schools approximately five days per week. Travel needs may vary based on the assigned school portfolio and scheduling requirements.

Responsibilities
  • Deliver instructional coaching aligned to middle school math standards (ratios, proportions, expressions and equations, functions, geometry, statistics).
  • Support teachers in planning and facilitating inquiry‑based lessons that promote reasoning and mathematical discourse.
  • Use research‑based strategies to strengthen conceptual understanding and support unfinished learning.
  • Model instructional approaches and support teachers using high-quality math curriculum.
  • Coach teachers working with multilingual learners and students with IEPs.
  • Identify math priority areas aligned to school and grade‑level goals.
  • Facilitate math‑focused professional learning related to instructional strategies, data analysis, and curriculum implementation.
  • Use student data and classroom observations to guide coaching cycles.
  • Develop individualized coaching plans aligned to teacher needs and student data.
  • Codify strategies, tools, and artifacts that strengthen ANet’s math coaching model.
  • Maintain accurate coaching documentation, notes, and progress updates.
