Description

Position Title: Day to Day Substitute Teacher

Qualifications:

  • 60+ Credit Hours from an accredited college or university
  • Michigan Substitute Permit
  • Satisfactory Completion of Background Check
  • Previous substitute teaching or classroom experience strongly preferred

Position

Description:

In the absence of the regular classroom teacher, the substitute teacher will support learning for scholars in the classroom they are assigned. Substitute teachers will follow lesson plans provided by the teacher of record or school administrator.

Terms of Employment: This is a part-time, on-call position. Professional Development will be provided through Sub School.

Compensation: $200/full day.

Key Responsibilities
  • Guides the learning process toward goals and objectives as indicated in the lesson plans.
  • Maintains a well-organized and orderly classroom.
  • Takes attendance in accordance with school procedures.
  • Performs all duties of the absent teacher, such as lunchroom duty, hall monitoring, and dismissal duty.
  • Follows emergency evacuations routes for the classroom assigned.
  • Follows procedures for supporting scholars.
  • Follows school procedures and regulations.
  • Performs other related duties as directed by the building leader.
Skills, Knowledge and Expertise
  • Previous substitute teaching or classroom experience strongly preferred
  • Ability to communicate effectively (verbal and written)
  • Ability to understand and follow policy and procedures.
  • Ability to show empathy and maintain emotional control under stress.
  • Possess a growth mindset; open to receiving feedback and continuous improvement.
  • Strong computer skills, including Microsoft Office/Google Suite.
  • Comfortable working with scholars at all grade levels K-8.
