TITLE:SpEd Social Worker (Full Time)
FLSA STATUS: Exempt
REPORTS TO: Director of Special Education

- Conduct individual behavioral/emotional evaluations, prepare written reports and participate in multi-disciplinary team meetings to determine eligibilities for special education services
- Identify and assess academic problems through analysis of factors impinging on student adjustment including factors in the home, school and community
- Determine and implement appropriate therapeutic strategies to effect changes in behavioral/social interactions of students and their families
- Provides individual and group therapeutic counseling to students
- Collaborates with school staff in implementing strategies to promote student learning
- Participate as member of the IEP and other school-based teams to develop interventions for promoting students’ academic success
- Provide crisis intervention services
- Provide staff consultation on behavioral/emotional/environmental issues affecting student participation in the learning process
- Conduct staff development on issues related to social/emotional/environmental factors that impact learning
- Complete functional behavior assessments and behavior plans on identified students
- Complete classroom observations
- Serves as liaison with community agencies and assists in fostering communication between schools, parents/guardians, and community leaders
- Participate in Child Study Team process as needed
- Interpret behavioral/emotional information to school personnel and parents
- Consult with school personnel, parents and community agencies
- Maintain accurate and complete records, according to district policies/procedures and IDEA law
- Support special and general education teachers through the use of student/classroom observations and intervention strategies
- Attend all Special Education meetings, and appropriate building staff meetings
- Participate in building and/or district committees
- Maintaining current licensure by attending appropriate accredited social work workshops/seminars
- Adhere to policies of the Cornerstone Charter School
- Perform other duties as may be assigned by the Director of Special Services or Building Principal
- Engage with and retain existing families.
- Provide excellent customer service to students, parents, staff, vendors and other visitors
- Build, further develop and maintain positive relationships with students, parents, staff, community members and others
- Consistently maintain work habits, appearance and behavior that serve as a positive model for students
