Job SummaryOversees development and completion of utility‑scale renewable energy construction projects (≥1 MW) from land development through notice‑to‑proceed for construction. Facilitates project management requirements, including scope, scheduling, estimating, engineering, and construction specifications. Ensures project completion by advancing through MISO interconnection application, engineering design, permitting, pre‑construction, and transition to construction. Supports community engagement and assists teams for successful project delivery.
Key Accountabilities- Lead wind and/or solar projects through development activities in early, mid, and late stages.
- Facilitate a team of specialists providing project schedules, cost estimates, and construction engineering specifications.
- Oversee project expenditures and cost‑effective procurement of labor, equipment, and materials; coordinate bid meetings, supplier evaluations, and contracting strategy.
- Communicate project status to all stakeholders and engage leadership in decisions.
- Identify renewable project opportunities, negotiating leases, easements, and agreements.
- Assist development team in marketing and generating renewable opportunities and M&A proposals.
- Evaluate conditions and execute solutions to control project risk.
- Ensure compliance with safety, environmental, and regulatory requirements.
- Assess renewable energy market conditions, trends, and opportunities across multiple political and geographic environments.
- Participate in industry working groups related to renewable energy policy changes.
- Support community engagement efforts and engage in community meetings.
- Bachelor’s degree and 5 years of project management experience (scheduling, estimating, risk management, construction management), including 2 years in renewable energy or community development/engagement projects.
- Associate degree and 7 years of project management experience, including 2 years in renewable energy or community development/engagement projects.
- High school diploma or GED and 9 years of project management experience, including 2 years in renewable energy or community development/engagement projects.
- Bachelor’s degree.
- Experience in engineering, construction management, or business administration.
- Experience in renewable energy sector.
- Experience in local project siting and permitting.
- Project Management Professional (PMP) certification.
- Proficiency with project management software.
- Ability to manage the development and strategic process for wind and/or solar projects.
- Strong organizational skills, multitasking, flexibility, and ability to work under changing priorities.
- Ability to coordinate deadlines and logistics to lead work processes within agreed time frames.
- Ability to balance multiple demands from leaders, peers, and partners calmly under pressure.
