Senior Electrical Designer

We’re hiring a Senior Electrical Designer to support industrial automation projects by leading the design and documentation of electrical control systems. This role works closely with engineers, project managers, and technicians to deliver accurate, standards‑compliant electrical designs for automated equipment and systems.

• Develop electrical schematics and panel layouts using EPLAN or AutoCAD Electrical.
• Create wiring diagrams, I/O schematics, safety circuits, and interconnect drawings.
• Design power distribution, control circuits, and field wiring.
• Perform FLA and heat‑dissipation calculations for component sizing and panel ventilation.
• Apply UL 508A, NFPA 79, and customer standards.
• Prepare BOMs, component lists, nameplates, and wire labels.
• Review and approve drawings for build and assembly.

• Design pneumatic circuits and schematics.
• Specify valves, actuators, FRLs, and flow controls.
• Perform SCFM calculations and ensure proper air‑supply sizing.

• Develop E‑stop circuits, interlocks, safety relays, and light‑curtain integrations.
• Ensure compliance with ISO 13849, NFPA 79, and customer safety requirements.

• Specify PLC hardware, drives, I/O modules, power supplies, and safety devices.
• Verify component compatibility and support sourcing efforts.
• Follow OEM, customer, and industry documentation standards, including GM Global Common and Ford FAST.

• 5+ years of electrical engineering or electrical design experience.
• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or a related field.
• Proficiency with EPLAN or AutoCAD Electrical.
• Strong knowledge of industrial automation technologies (PLCs, SCADA, robotics, drives, safety systems).
• Ability to produce clear, accurate electrical documentation for automated machinery.

Location:

Ann Arbor, MI. Salary range: $68,000–$115,600.
