What We're Looking For

We are seeking candidates for a Design-Build Senior CADD Technician for fast-paced transportation infrastructure projects within HNTB’s Design Build (DB) Organization. The candidate should have experience with software including Open Roads Designer, AutoCAD, and Civil 3D, with the ability to create precise and detailed drawings, communicate effectively, and manage workload efficiently.

HNTB has a long history of delivering solutions for large and complex infrastructure projects across the country. This opportunity involves performing non-routine and complex assignments at an advanced proficiency level, planning and conducting complete projects of varied scope, outlining objectives and design approaches with the project management team, and gathering engineering or operational data from diverse sources.

• Verify the accuracy of drawings, ensure cross-discipline compatibility, and check detail and quantity calculations; calculate design data, prepare layouts, detailed specifications, estimates, and reports.
• Assist in preparing engineering studies and evaluations for project development from initial concept to design stage, with guidance from the project engineer/architect.
• Attend project and pre-construction meetings and provide input to ensure proper policies, procedures, and specifications are followed.
• Resolve technical design problems, which may include field investigations or inspections, detailed design work, and data analysis.
• Provide general administrative support by maintaining complex project plans; may develop documentation, prepare project management reports, and monitor progress toward goals.
• Make recommendations for process improvements in project delivery at the office level.
• Calculate quantities and perform engineering-related computations.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

• Bachelor s degree in Engineering Technology or related field and 6 years of relevant experience, or
• Associate of Science in Drafting or Technical School or related and 8 years of relevant experience, or
• In lieu of education, 10 years of relevant experience

• Ability to work effectively and participate in professional relationships with clients and sub-contractors.
• Proficient in CADD design software such as GIS, 3D, Highway or Railroad design, Building design, and graphic imaging.
• Proficient in the terminology and symbols used in survey notes, plans, shop drawings, aerial photographs, and maps related to a specific Engineering sub-type.

• Open Roads Designer and Micro Station CONNECT experience, Micro Station V8i, AutoCAD, Civil3D
