Sr. Mechanical Engineer

Pay Range: $90 – $130/hr (may exceed based on experience)

Hybrid – 3 days in office, 2 days remote

The Planet Group is currently seeking a Sr. Mechanical Engineer for a growing company in the commercial and industrial building engineering industry. Qualified candidates must have a Professional Engineer (PE) license, 10+ years of experience designing building mechanical systems, and strong proficiency in AutoCAD and Revit/BIM

Design building mechanical systems (HVAC) including system concepts, calculations, energy modeling, layout, sizing, selections, specifications, and coordination.

• Perform site visits to evaluate existing mechanical systems or inspect work in progress.
• Prepare engineering reports and documentation.
• Review and respond to team members on project design work, RFIs, submittals, and other construction-related documents in a professional and timely manner.
• Monitor and control project progress against scope, schedule, and budget.
• Attend client meetings and support project planning and proposal efforts.
• Mentor and guide junior engineers and designers while contributing to team collaboration.

• Licensed Professional Engineer (PE) – Michigan preferred
• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering Technology, or similar field
• 10+ years of experience designing building mechanical systems
• Proficiency in AutoCAD and Revit/BIM
• Experience with building energy modeling concepts and software preferred
• Knowledge of applicable codes and standards
• Strong communication, leadership, and interpersonal skills
• Ability to work effectively in multi-disciplinary project teams
