Overview

Archdiocese of Detroit (Catholic Charities of Southeast Michigan) is seeking a Peer Support Coach to provide supportive services to formerly homeless individuals and families at The Residences of St. Matthew. The role collaborates with residents to provide individualized and flexible support to help them acclimate to their new community, access resources, and promote stability and growth.

Base pay range

$15.00/hr - $20.00/hr

This pay range is provided by Archdiocese of Detroit. Your actual pay will be based on your skills and experience — talk with your recruiter to learn more.

Responsibilities
  • Assist residents with accessing and navigating community resources
  • Provide mentorship and serve as a role model by sharing personal knowledge and experience with residents
  • Assist with goal setting and symptom management
  • Assist residents with the development of life skills and activities of daily living
  • Initiate and facilitate peer-led groups and events for residents
  • Enhance team decision making by attending staff and property management meetings to advocate for residents’ voices
  • Assist with the coordination and transportation of residents to outside service providers
  • All other duties as assigned
Qualifications, Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
  • Certified Peer Support Specialist or Certified Peer Recovery Coach
  • High school diploma or equivalent GED
  • Minimum of 3 years consecutive recovery time from date of hire
  • Personal lived experience of homelessness
  • Ability to apply Housing-First, trauma-informed, and person-centered principles in work with residents
  • Ability to practice professional boundaries and refrain from dual relationships with residents
  • Ability to maintain appropriate emotional regulation and engage in healthy self-care strategies
  • Knowledge of mental health and recovery services
  • Knowledge of community resources
  • Ability to demonstrate computer skills;
    Microsoft Office, HMIS
  • Preferred candidate will have a valid driver’s license
Position classification, type & expected hours of work

This is a part-time, non-exempt position. Days and hours of work are flexible within hours of Monday through Saturday, 8:30 a.m. to 8:30 p.m.
