About the Company
The Boys & Girls Clubs of Southeast Michigan (BGCSM) is seeking a compassionate, knowledgeable, and assessment-skilled Full Time Psychologist to provide behavioral health support to youth across our Club sites. The ideal candidate brings a strong combination of clinical assessment training, research experience, supervisory skills, and the ability to work collaboratively within a dynamic youth‑serving environment.
This professional should be confident in administering, scoring, interpreting, and writing cohesive, integrated psychological assessment summaries for commonly used childhood measures including—but not limited to—the ADOS-2, WRAT, Woodcock-Johnson, WISC-V, BASC-3, and other related tools. Experience conducting and presenting research, mentoring students on scholarly projects, and presenting at professional conferences is also essential. A willingness to work independently, collaborate with a multidisciplinary team, and travel between sites is required.
About the Role
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide direct, short‑term behavioral health interventions and mental wellness support to youth ages 6–24 across BGCSM Club sites.
- Conduct behavioral and psychological assessments, including standardized childhood measures (e.g., ADOS-2, WRAT, Woodcock‑Johnson, WISC-V, BASC-3).
- Score, interpret, and integrate assessment data into clear, cohesive, and developmentally appropriate psychological summaries and feedback for youth, caregivers, and internal teams.
- Support case formulation, diagnostic clarity, and recommendations through both clinical interviews and assessment data.
- Deliver individual and small group therapeutic sessions that are trauma‑informed and culturally responsive.
- Collaborate with Club staff, parents/caregivers, and community partners to address youth behavioral needs and recommend appropriate resources or referrals.
- Provide crisis response support, de‑escalation assistance, and post‑crisis stabilization.
- Offer staff consultation, training, and coaching on behavioral health topics, trauma‑informed care, and assessment‑informed practices.
- Supervise clinical psychology practicum students, including oversight of assessment administration, scoring, interpretation, report writing, and case conceptualization.
- Engage in research‑related activities such as designing small‑scale projects, supporting program evaluation, mentoring students on research initiatives, and presenting findings at conferences or professional meetings.
- Maintain accurate, timely, and confidential documentation in accordance with professional, ethical, and organizational standards.
- Support the integration of social‑emotional and mental wellness strategies into BGCSM programming.
- Provide general support to the Behavioral Health Department’s mission, systems, and programming.
Qualifications
- Doctoral degree in Psychology (PhD or PsyD)
- Active and unrestricted Michigan psychologist license (LP)
- Minimum of 2 years of experience providing behavioral health services to youth
- Demonstrated training and experience in administering, scoring, interpreting, and writing integrated summaries for child/adolescent psychological assessments (e.g., ADOS-2, WRAT, Woodcock‑Johnson, WISC‑V, BASC‑3)
- Experience conducting research, presenting at conferences, and supporting student research or scholarly projects
- Experience providing clinical supervision to trainees
- Ability to travel to multiple BGCSM sites across Detroit and surrounding areas
