Business Analyst II – Salesforce at Blue Cross Blue Shield of Michigan Job Description

The Salesforce Business Technology department is looking for a Business Analyst II to join our team. Our department serves as a liaison between IT and Health Plan Business focusing on strategic business initiatives built on the Group CRM platform. Project work and platform maintenance are our primary responsibilities. The Business Analyst II will support project work, Salesforce reports, and data analytics with a heavy emphasis on end‑user support.

This role is ideal for someone with business analyst and project work experience and requires excellent verbal and written communication skills.

Responsibilities
  • Project work and platform maintenance on Salesforce and related Group CRM platform.
  • Support Salesforce reports and data analytics, focusing on end‑user support.
  • Interact with internal and external customers, including development teams, to triage and resolve issues.
  • Collaborate with IT teams, business stakeholders, and agile teams to identify and capture business problems and non‑functional requirements.
  • Translate business requirements and user stories into functional specifications and features.
  • Create materials, present results from pulled reports, and develop recommendations for problem resolution.
  • Assist with planning, agenda setting, and project prioritization for planning sessions.
  • Coach employees on technology usage and information when necessary.
  • Align technology solutions with business strategies and industry best practices.
  • Participate in quality efforts and support implementation of required changes.
  • Support collaboration on systems and process automation planning.
  • Work closely with developers and end users to ensure technical compatibility and user satisfaction.
  • Serve as a key partner with business units, facilitating and managing requirements and user story discovery sessions.
  • Communicate organization options through business cases using external research and industry‑specific trends.
  • Review and recommend solutions with the team.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree preferred (or equivalent work experience).
  • Four to six years of relevant system solution development, testing, and implementation work experience.
  • In‑depth knowledge of business operations, systems requirements, development methodologies, and IT processes and technologies.
  • Technical, analytical, and interpersonal skills.
  • Familiarity with standard and emerging IT processes, tools, and frameworks.
  • In‑depth knowledge of the insurance industry (members, eligibility, claims, etc.).
  • Experience eliciting requirements and performing testing.
  • Knowledge of Agile, Dev Sec Ops , and Design Thinking methodologies.
  • Experience translating customer journeys into user stories.
  • Knowledge of information gathering, planning, and organizing methods and principles.
  • Experience in analyzing data and in data visualization techniques and tools.
  • Ability to influence stakeholders and work closely with them to determine acceptable solutions.
  • Fundamental analytical and conceptual thinking skills.
  • Excellent planning, organizational, and time‑management skills.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, including technical writing skills.
  • Ability to conduct research into a wide range of computing issues as required.
  • Ability to absorb and retain information quickly, specifically complex technical information.
  • Good understanding of the organization’s goals and objectives.
  • Enthusiasm for working with technical teams producing complex solutions.
  • Applies original thinking to produce new ideas and innovate.
  • Desired technical skills:
    Systems Development Life Cycle (SDLC), Structured Query Language (SQL), Quality Assurance (QA), Requirements Gathering, Functional Specifications, Advanced Analysis.
  • Other related skills and/or abilities may be required to perform this job.
