Property Adjuster - Field Estimating - Detroit, MI
Allstate is looking for a dedicated Field Property Adjuster to provide exceptional service to policyholders. The primary responsibility is to travel to customers' homes to conduct on‑site inspections, investigate coverage, prepare estimates, and settle claims promptly. Virtual claims will also be handled using platforms such as Xactimate and Claims
X Video Collaboration, with a focus on water losses.
- The Customer Service Expert – Live in Allstate’s Claims Culture by caring, empowering, and restoring. Lead with empathy, be compassionate, clear, and a committed partner in each claim.
- The Investigator – Investigate property claims independently, perform damage reviews, and interpret policies to determine coverage.
- The Effective Communicator – Use phone, email, and video chat to help customers through a fast, fair, and easy claims process; adapt to each customer’s communication preference.
- The Negotiator – Evaluate and negotiate claim settlements with customers, vendors, third‑party carriers, and claimants, using legal and business standard methodologies.
- The Problem Solver – Utilize estimate tools, job aids, and settlement platforms while applying critical thinking skills in a fast‑paced environment.
- The Recorder – Protect the company financially by correctly documenting work in the claims system and ensuring timely, accurate records.
- 3+ years of outside adjuster experience.
- Experience with virtual and on‑site inspections and the ability to settle claims on‑site.
- Proficiency with Xactimate and other estimating software.
- Strong critical thinking and technical skills for accurate damage assessment.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Willingness and ability to travel to customers’ homes and handle virtual claims nationwide.
- Detail‑oriented, organized, and focused on high‑quality work.
- Residency within the posted Detroit, MI location (north or northeast of Metro Detroit).
- Ability to carry a 50‑pound ladder and access roofs up to a 6/12 pitch.
- Valid driver’s license and willingness to travel as required.
- Comprehensive training to build a claims foundation and master systems and processes.
- Ongoing training opportunities for continuous improvement.
- 2‑week onsite training in Wheeling, IL.
- Adjuster and/or appraiser license may be required by local regulations. Licenses must be obtained within 60 days of hire.
- Hiring Manager and Centralized Licensing team will assist in securing the required licenses.
- Eligible for a $1,000 licensing sign‑on bonus if holding necessary active licenses (e.g., Home Resident Property & Casualty, DHS, or appraiser license).
- Current Allstate employees or former Allstate employees are not eligible.
Based on company guidelines, this role qualifies for a company car determined by annual mileage.

Base compensation ranges from $56,000 to $115,245 annually, based on experience and qualifications.
The candidate offered for this position will be required to submit to a background investigation.
