General SummaryUnder the direction of the Strategic Sourcing and Procurement Director, this position is responsible for directing and supervising Stores personnel to ensure that the available inventory of spares and supplies is maintained at appropriate levels and accounted for as required, while maintaining the highest level of professionalism and confidentiality.
Duties and Responsibilities- Responsible for all Stores activities, including shipping, receiving, storing, dispensing, ordering, etc.
- Supervises department personnel in accordance with the organization’s policies and applicable laws
- Coaches and mentors departmental staff, encouraging professional development
- Trains departmental staff and new hires on departmental structure and processes
- Ensures efficient and effective utilization of personnel
- Ensures effective shift and relief coverage by allocating staff where required
- Maintains adequate levels of parts and supplies and monitors parts usage
- Makes recommendations regarding inventory standards, quantities, vendors and applications
- Maintains and monitors inventory control records
- Continuously improves and expands upon inventory control mechanisms currently in use
- Prepares inventory procedures and reports
- Expedites receipt of critically needed items
- Coordinates warranty and defective parts repair
- Coordinates with Maintenance Division to ensure supplies availability
- Resolves short and long‑term inventory problems solving
- Responsible for the security of all special tools and test equipment
- Develops training materials for future hires
- Provides a neat and safe work area
- Responsible for the overall direction, coordination, and evaluation of the Department
- Interviews and trains employees
- Plans, assigns, and directs work of Department personnel
- Appraises performance, rewards and disciplines Department personnel
- Actively solicits feedback from colleagues and supervisor on opportunities for growth and development
- Retrieves files and documents from the designated procurement folders and drives on the company network
- May utilize approved external programs essential to the procurement department’s regular operations
- Obtains quotes and creates Purchase Orders for inventory and non‑inventory parts for Maintenance in PMC system
- Organizes and creates new part numbers for various parts and supplies
- Obtains quotes and sends parts out to be repaired
- Manages Stores contracts for supplies, repairs and maintenance uniforms
- Incorporates safety into all aspects of job functions
- Must work within established methods, practices, procedures, policies of the DTC and federal or state laws
- Creates a safe and inclusive working environment for all team members
- Collaborates and effectively works with all members of the team
- Practices open communication and resolves conflicts in a professional manner
- Performs other duties as assigned
- Minimum:
- Associate degree in Supply Chain Management, Business Administration or related field
- 8 years of experience in warehouse and stores operations
- 3 years supervisory experience
- 4 years of experience in material usage control and recordkeeping
- Combination of education and experience may substitute for minimum requirements
- Preferred:
- 5 years supervisory experience
- Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain Management, Business Administration or related field
Skills and Abilities
- Organized and self‑motivated
- Strong knowledge about materials received to ensure it meets specifications
- Knowledge of special handling and/or storage requirements for electronic, pneumatic, hydraulic tools and equipment
- Ability to communicate policies and procedures
- Ability to use a PC computer
- People oriented and comfortable in an environment, which promotes shop floor participative management
- Effective managerial skills and ability to effectively interact with other divisions of management
- Proficient in Microsoft Office programs (Word, Excel, Teams, Outlook, etc.)
